"Fossil Watch". Dial cut from an authentic 230,000,000 year
old Carboniferious fern fossil in slate. 18K gold case, sapphire crystal,
ostrich strap. Asked why he created such a watch in a feature article;
WWJ 9/8/72, Davidson replied, "When I look at my watch, I feel I've
got five minutes to make a meeting... give of take a million years".
The collection was sold exclusively at Baily, Banks and Bittel, Philadelphia,
as Davidson excavated the fossils in Pennsylvania. (Below: Original sketch
and dial cutting).
